The Relentless Magazine — Issue 09 with exclusive insights into the world of luxury, business, and success.

The Relentless magazine, known from Monaco for its insights into the world of luxury lifestyle and business, conducted an exclusive interview with Tim Söther, an internationally active communication and branding strategist, in the summer of 2023.

The contact between Tim and James, the editor-in-chief of the magazine, dates back to 2017, when the two met in Monaco. Since then, their paths have crossed regularly, for example at the Monaco Yacht Show or in a wine club in the city.

At a charity gala in 2022 at the Fairmont Hotel in Monaco, James finally asked Tim if he would be willing to give an interview for the magazine.

Tim, who is recognized worldwide for his creative and strategic approaches, spoke in an interview about the balance between creativity and entrepreneurship, his experiences in the military, and the future of the design industry.

The Balance between Creativity and Business

When asked whether running a business hinders the creative process, Tim replied that his entrepreneurial experience is even advantageous. “It broadens my perspective on business models and marketing strategies, which enriches my creative work,” he explained. Tim emphasizes the importance of clearly separating time for business tasks and creative projects while also ensuring adequate rest to promote one’s creativity.

Military Discipline as the Key to Success

Tim, who served in the German Air Force, told Relentless Magazine that his military service provided him with valuable skills such as discipline, perseverance, and teamwork — qualities that benefit him today in business. “These traits are often underrepresented in the creative industry, yet it’s precisely this mix that my clients appreciate.”

Challenges as an Entrepreneur

Like every entrepreneur, Tim also faced significant challenges at the beginning. Building a stable customer base and developing a unique brand identity were among the biggest hurdles. “It wasn’t easy to build my business from the ground up, but perseverance and self-confidence were crucial to overcome these initial difficulties.”

Surviving in Times of Crisis

During the COVID-19 pandemic, global uncertainty posed a challenge for Tim as well. However, he demonstrated adaptability and adjusted his business strategies to the new conditions. “Open communication with my customers and exploring alternative sources of income helped me steer my business through the crisis.”

Future Visions for the Design Industry

Looking ahead to the next ten years, Tim sees primarily two major trends: sustainability and the use of artificial intelligence. “Sustainable design is becoming increasingly important, as is the use of AI to optimize processes. Designers who are open to innovations and link their creativity with new technologies will be successful in the long run.”
